Who we are

smartblue AG is an independent software company based in Munich. Since 2010, we have been developing Smart Control, our monitoring and technical operations management platform, as well as grid connection hardware with integrated control software for photovoltaic systems and large-scale battery storage.

Our customers include medium-sized EPC companies, operations managers, municipal utilities, energy suppliers and investors across the DACH region. With Smart Control, they monitor portfolios ranging from just a few to several hundred systems, with capacities between 10 kWp and 200 MWp.

What sets us apart

Hardware-independent

Smart Control reads data from more than 70 data logger and inverter systems – including SMA, Huawei, Sungrow, SolarEdge, Kaco, Refusol and many other manufacturers. Unlike manufacturer portals, which only monitor their own hardware, our customers can view their entire portfolio in a single, unified interface – even if it consists of twenty different systems.

European, with data hosted in Germany

All data is stored and processed in Germany. There is no Chinese ownership and no transfer of data to third countries. For municipal utilities, energy suppliers and investors with strict data protection requirements, this is a decisive advantage.

Operations management and grid connection from a single source

In addition to the Smart Control platform, we supply power plant controllers with our own control software – the hardware that enables a system to connect to the grid in the first place. Few providers in Germany cover both sides: technical operations management throughout the entire lifecycle of a system and compliant grid connection at the outset. For our customers, this means one point of contact instead of three, seamless interfaces between systems, and no grey areas when it comes to responsibility.

Specialist in grid connection for large-scale battery storage systems

We connect large-scale battery storage systems to the grid – both green electricity storage systems charged directly from PV plants and grid-charged storage systems for ancillary services. Both include integration with direct marketing. With our combination of power plant controller hardware, monitoring and direct marketing integration, we are one of the few German companies offering comprehensive expertise in battery storage.

Configurable instead of rigid

Each user can configure their own views, alarms and reports. A service technician sees different information than an investor – based on the same underlying data.

Ertragsprognose mit Abregelungserkennung

Über eine satellitengestützte Referenzleistungsberechnung erkennt Smart Control automatisch, wenn eine Anlage weniger einspeist als möglich wäre – ob durch Verschattung, Schnee, Wechselrichterfehler oder Netzbetreiber-Abregelung. Der potenzielle Ertragsausfall wird zeitgenau quantifiziert.

How we work

We are a team of 20 specialists – software developers, hardware engineers and monitoring experts. Compact enough for short communication paths and direct contacts, yet strong enough to handle projects of any size. We grow with our customers, not faster.

smartblue AG is owner-managed and independent. Decisions are made in-house, not in a distant boardroom. This is the framework in which we have been working since 2010.

We have been supporting many of our customers for more than ten years. This shapes the way we build software: conservatively, with compatibility and the long term in mind. A portal that works today must still work with the same systems five years from now.
