Ground-mounted PV systems are primarily set up on large, level surfaces of ground in the open countryside and are designed as solar power plants. They are simpler to construct than rooftop installations and generally achieve better outputs than roof-mounted systems due to their specific structural configuration (they can be aligned in an ideal manner, and ventilation is better at the back of the modules). Ground-mounted PV systems are typically equipped with numerous inverters that bundle the currents from the modules – of which there are more than a thousand in some cases. Above all, ground-mounted PV systems serve to achieve steady outputs for the system’s investors. Ongoing monitoring and technical management are therefore particularly important for this type of PV systems.
